Munford, Tenn. (October 29, 2012) – Reiamari Guevarra, a senior at Munford High School, has been named a C Spire Wireless Academic All-Stars Award winner.
Guevarra is one of six students in the Greater Memphis area who received this week’s award for Foreign Language. C Spire Wireless will recognize more than 160 students during the 2012-2013 school year. Guevarra and other weekly winners will be honored at a luncheon at the Hilton Memphis, Thursday, May 2, 2013.
Guevarra is committed to academic success. She holds a 4.0 unweighted grade point average and scored 31 on the ACT. Guevarra ranks in the top 1% of her senior class and scored 2090 on the SAT. She was selected to attend the Tennessee Governor’s School for the Humanities at the University of Tennessee at Martin, earning six college credit hours. She also attended the Duke University Summer Studies Program two times. Guevarra has received the Academic Achievement Award every year at Munford.
Currently enrolled in Honors Spanish IV, Guevarra maintains a 97 average. She has completed French I and French II. Guevarra is a member of the National Spanish Honor Society and the French Club. She also is a member of Mu Alpha Theta and the Academic Knowledge Team that placed second in area competition. Guevarra will enter college with 18 credit hours based on dual enrollment courses and summer programs.
The C Spire Wireless Academic All-Stars program was conceived to identify and recognize high school students for excellence in academics, school leadership and community service. Now in its 7th year, the C Spire Academic All-Stars Awards are presented weekly for 28 weeks during the academic year from nominations submitted by school administrators. Judges include educators from Rhodes College, The University of Memphis, LeMoyne-Owen College and Christian Brothers University. Each Sunday during the year, C Spire Academic All-Stars are announced in The Commercial Appeal.
